He birth of a new phenomenon

On March 3, 2017, the seventh video game console produced by Nintendo, Nintendo Switch, was released. If we include the Color TV Game that came out between 1977 and 1980, we would be talking about the eighth desktop console.

Nintendo Switch was born with the premise of curling the curl and offering a hybrid product. It should be able to be enjoyed portable and connected to TV. For that same reason and because it is a product of the always controversial Nintendo, there was speculation about its specifications many months before leaving. There were countless publications about their possible technical capabilities. There was speculation about whether it would mount an Nvidia Tegra X1 processor or a later generation.

First Opinions of Nintendo Switch

Crowds of specialized media and YouTube channels rushed to leave the product for dead before it went on sale. They claimed that the portable market was already occupied by mobile phones. In the opinion of these media, there was no room left for a product with the characteristics of Switch. What do I want this console for? a youtuber known to the Spanish community would ask. And it is that the first opinions of Nintendo Switch were the most pessimistic that are ever reminded of a Nintendo console.

Technological ignorance in Nintendo Switch opinions

Marketing management is one of Nintendo's weak points prior to launching a console. It is too faithful to that stale secrecy that characterizes it around the technologies it uses in its products. Since the launch of Gamecube, Nintendo stopped betting on graphic brute force, not technology. However, Nintendo Wii was the turning point in terms of giving open information about the specifications of its products. This gave way to months of speculation prior to the launch of successive Nintendo consoles, as well as false expectations and great disappointments. And it is that a minority of media are those that have the ability to analyze the technological virtues of a device like Nintendo Switch in its proper measure.

The vast majority of media shows a common point in their opinions about Nintendo Switch. They stay true to the clichés and copy each other when analyzing this little technological phenomenon. They use the mediocre argument of the console without power or less powerful than its competitors. And it is that assessing the degree of technological development based on the gross power of a graphics processing unit (GPU) is simply not having a clue of what is being talked about
